Google has spearheaded innovation like no modern day company ever has. It is a company who is a daredevil to say the least when it comes to stepping into new domains. They are not only brave enough to get their feet wet in territories uncharted yet (even by a company their scale) but they’re also willing to create new territories just the same. The innovation juice that flows out of Google coming obviously from the great minds housed inside their company has reached legendary status because of all the products and services that they’ve introduced not just in the web but also in the physical world. In fact, they have managed to build themselves into quite a stature that only one company comes close to what they’ve been able to achieve. And that company is Apple (and we all know how good this company is).
The vision that Google has led to products and services across the web that inspire people, businesses, operation and products to be innovative on their own as well.
Some of the things that Google has spearheaded that easily comes to one’s mind are:
Cloud computing – they have been in the forefront of not only cloud storage but the entire computing process as well. They’ve got applications, office tools, games, storage and business solutions that are all on the go. This means that a user can access all these anywhere where there is an internet connection from any computer. And the best part about it is that often these products can compete with paid solutions even though they are completely free!
Mobile Technology – it is no secret that Google owns android. You know that mobile operating system that has been busy invading every other person’s phone. It is now about to dominate the world of mobile computing as it continues to take big chucks from mobile operating system’s market share.
Search – this part of Google’s history needs no further explaining. They have basically invented “productive” search. It is still the backbone of their entire business.
Website simplistic design – if you’ve come across some of Google’s products such as the newly lauded Google plus, one cannot help but notice the simplicity of their website designs. It is obvious that user experience is at the top of the company’s list when building something because speed and responsiveness is a result of having a website without fuss.
We have a lot to learn on the things that Google has introduced. As basic internet users, we can learn much from the last part which is website design. Just looking at polished simplistic of Google plus alone, we should be able to take some pointers with us. Perhaps this is why there is continually a demand to increase plus 1.
When we think of our blogs and websites as physical retail store, then design easily should be more prioritized on our list of concerns. Unfortunately, most still take this aspect for granted even though this could easily be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to attracting visitors.
